Hadi Abubakar Sirika is a Nigerian politician with a background in aviation who served as the Minister of Aviation in Nigeria from 2015 to 2019 and again from 2019 to 2023.
Born on March 2, 1964, in Dutsi, Katsina State, Nigeria, Sirika’s journey in aviation began with his education at the Nigerian Defence Academy, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Technology. He further pursued his studies, earning a Master of Science degree in Aviation Management from the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

Sirika’s professional career started as a pilot in the Nigerian Air Force. Afterward, he transitioned to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, where he gradually rose to the rank of Director of Airworthiness. In 2003, he entered the political arena, winning a seat in the House of Representatives, where he served for four years. In 2011, he successfully campaigned for a position in the Senate, which he held for another four years.
In 2015, Sirika was appointed as the Minister of Aviation by President Muhammadu Buhari. During his tenure, he spearheaded numerous reforms aimed at revitalizing the aviation sector in Nigeria. Notably, he oversaw the establishment of a new national carrier, the Nigerian Air Force. Additionally, Sirika worked diligently to enhance safety and security measures within the aviation industry.
