In 2003, Assad was appointed as the director of pricing at the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA), where he was responsible for ensuring that government contractors were complying with federal regulations and laws governing the pricing of their goods and services.

In 2011, Assad was appointed as the director of defense pricing and contracting. In this role, he was responsible for the oversight and management of the procurement and pricing activities of the Department of Defense (DOD), ensuring that all contractors were meeting the requirements of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
