Gururaj Karajagi was an Indian educationist and social entrepreneur who dedicated his life to transforming the education system in India. He was born on June 10, 1964, in the city of Dharwad in the state of Karnataka, India. He had a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the BVB College of Engineering and Technology in Hubli and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Southern California, USA.

Gururaj Karajagi began his career as an entrepreneur in the IT industry, but his true passion was education. He founded the Global Academy for Learning in Bangalore in 2001, with the vision of providing world-class education to children from all walks of life. The school was based on the principles of experiential learning, where students learn by doing, and the curriculum was designed to promote creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Under Gururaj Karajagi’s leadership, the Global Academy for Learning grew rapidly, with branches in multiple cities across India. The school’s innovative teaching methods and emphasis on holistic education made it a model for other educational institutions in India.

Gururaj Karajagi also founded the Centre for Leadership and Management Development (CLMD), a non-profit organization that provides leadership training and consulting services to businesses and government organizations. He was a sought-after speaker and trainer on topics such as leadership, innovation, and education, and he conducted workshops and training programs for schools, colleges, and companies across India and around the world.

In addition to his work in education, Gururaj Karajagi was also a social activist and a champion of women’s rights. He founded the Sambhava Foundation, a non-profit organization that works to empower women and children in rural areas of India. The foundation provides education, healthcare, and vocational training to women and children, helping them to break the cycle of poverty and achieve economic independence.

Gururaj Karajagi was a man of vision, compassion, and courage, who dedicated his life to creating a better world through education and social entrepreneurship. He passed away on December 26, 2020, at the age of 56, but his legacy lives on through the institutions and organizations he founded, and through the thousands of lives he touched and inspired.

Gururaj Karajagi’s wife’s name is Veena Karajagi. She is known to be a supportive partner of her husband and has been actively involved in his philanthropic activities.

Gururaj Karajagi was a highly educated individual. He completed his B.E. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Mysore and went on to pursue his Master’s degree in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi. He also obtained his Ph.D. in the field of Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore.

Gururaj Karajagi had a sister named Lalitha S. Rao. She is a well-known educationist and is the founder of the Little Flower Public School in Bangalore.

 He founded the Academy for Creative Teaching in Bangalore and was instrumental in spreading his innovative teaching methodologies across India. 

He authored several books on education, spirituality, and philosophy, including “Sadhana – The Realisation of Life” and “Sneha Samvada”.

 Dr. Karajagi was also actively involved in various social and philanthropic activities and received several awards for his contributions to education and society. He passed away on 1st December 2019 in a tragic road accident.
