Lieutenant Colonel Matthew Lohmeier is a former officer in the United States Space Force and a prominent conservative author and speaker. He gained notoriety in May 2021 when he was relieved of his command after publishing a book critical of Marxism and its influence on the military.

Lohmeier was born and raised in Texas, where he attended Texas A&M University and earned a degree in aerospace engineering. After graduation, he was commissioned as a second in the United States Air Force and served in a variety of positions, including as a missile warning crew commander, a missile operations instructor, and a space surveillance liaison officer.

In 2020, Lohmeier was selected to be the commander of the 11th Space Warning Squadron at Buckley Air Force Base in Colorado. The squadron is responsible for providing early warning of missile launches and other threats to the United States and its allies. Lohmeier led the squadron through a challenging year marked by the COVID-19 pandemic and the continuing threat of global conflict.

However, in May 2021, Lohmeier was relieved of his command after he published a book entitled “Irresistible Revolution: Marxism’s Goal of Conquest & the Unmaking of the American Military.” In the book, Lohmeier argues that Marxism and its associated ideologies are infiltrating the military and undermining its effectiveness. He contends that this infiltration is part of a larger effort to overthrow American society and replace it with a socialist system.

After the book’s publication, Lohmeier was subjected to an investigation by the Space Force, which ultimately led to his removal from command. The investigation concluded that Lohmeier’s comments “had the potential to denigrate other members of the Department of Defense and to harm good order and discipline within the ranks.”

Since his removal from command, Lohmeier has become a prominent conservative commentator and speaker, appearing on a variety of television and radio programs to discuss his views on Marxism and the military. He continues to advocate for his vision of a strong and effective military that is free from the influence of leftist ideologies.
