Born in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India in 1875, Mufti Kifayatullah Dehlawi received his education at the renowned Darul Uloom Deoband. During his time at Deoband, he had the privilege of studying under the guidance of Mahmud Hasan Deobandi, a prominent Islamic scholar of the time. After completing his studies at Deoband, Mufti Dehlawi went on to teach at Madrasa Aminia and Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama. Additionally, he held the esteemed position of editor of the Al-Hidayah journal.
In 1920, Mufti Kifayatullah Dehlawi was elected as the first president of the Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind, an organization dedicated to the welfare and empowerment of Indian Muslims. He served in this capacity for a period of two years, during which he worked diligently to address the concerns and advocate for the rights of the Muslim community. Furthermore, in 1922, he was appointed as the second rector of Madrasa Aminia, where he continued to make valuable contributions until his passing in 1952.

He was a prolific writer and authored several books, including “Talim-ul-Islam” (comprising four parts), “Al-Hidayah” (a commentary on the Hanafi fiqh compendium of the same name), and “Al-Fatawa” (a collection of his fatwas).
