PTR, or the People’s Television Network, is a government-owned television network in the Philippines.

The National Union of Journalists of the Philippines also condemned PTR’s alleged prioritization of ratings over responsible journalism.

This was not the first time that PTR had been involved in a leaked audio scandal. In 2018, an audio recording surfaced of PTR employees allegedly discussing the manipulation of ratings data. 

The employees were reportedly caught discussing ways to inflate PTR’s viewership numbers to attract advertisers.

The leaked audio scandals have raised questions about the integrity of PTR and its commitment to responsible journalism.

 In a time when the media is playing a crucial role in providing accurate information about the pandemic, PTR’s alleged prioritization of ratings over factual reporting is particularly concerning.
