Mufti Kifayatullah Dehlawi (1875-1952) holds a prominent place in the history of Islamic scholarship in India. After completing his studies at Deoband, Mufti Dehlawi went on to teach at Madrasa Aminia and Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama. Additionally, he held the esteemed position of editor of the Al-Hidayah journal.

In 1920, Mufti Kifayatullah Dehlawi was elected as the first president of the Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind, an organization dedicated to the welfare and empowerment of Indian Muslims. He served in this capacity for a period of two years, during which he worked diligently to address the concerns and advocate for the rights of the Muslim community. Furthermore, in 1922, he was appointed as the second rector of Madrasa Aminia, where he continued to make valuable contributions until his passing in 1952.

He was a prolific writer and authored several books, including “Talim-ul-Islam” (comprising four parts), “Al-Hidayah” (a commentary on the Hanafi fiqh compendium of the same name), and “Al-Fatawa” (a collection of his fatwas).
